PARISH MINISTRIES
In thanksgiving for the gifts God has given us, we are called to return a portion of our Time and Talent to support His work. This is an offering of “first fruits,” a contribution by which we signify God’s priority in our lives.
Prayerfully go through these ministries offered by Cathedral Parish and indicate how you intend to take a step in faith in returning a larger portion of your time and talent to God.
Adoration Chapel:
Secluded and peaceful room for prayerful devotion. Open Daily 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the Cathedral Center.
Carolyn Jourdan – Contact Chair
Adult Choir:
Scheduled weekly practice sessions and performance at 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and annual liturgical services.
Tom Niel – Music Director
Altar Society:
Scheduled weekly assistance in the care of the church, sacred vestments, and the Sanctuary.

Altar Servers:
Youth and young adults who assist the priest during Mass, weddings, funerals, and other liturgical services.

Bereavement Committee:
Personal contact to offer spiritual and emotional support to those experiencing a recent loss.

Campaign Against Poverty
Assists parishioners who are in need of groceries, transportation and healthcare.

Cathedral Couples:
Scheduled gatherings to share and discuss topics of faith and act as hospitality ministers for the Sunday morning coffee and refreshments.
Chad & Leslie Hanks – Contact Chairs
Catholic Daughters of the Americas:
The largest Catholic women's organization in the world that strives to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all. Louisiana Catholic Daughters support the religious, the aging, Disaster Relief Services, and have instituted a program "CDA Kids," which helps children under the age of 12 that have a life-threatening disease.

Cemetery Commission:
Governing and decision-making committee for the maintenance and management of St. John Cemetery.
Marella Wilkerson – Cemetery Superintendent
Docents:
Hosts and Tour Guides for guests and visitors to the Cathedral, Museum, and St. John Cemetery.

Homebound Ministers:
Personal visits to the sick, elderly, and handicapped for the distribution of Holy Communion.

Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society chartered locally in 1908. Open to the men of Cathedral Parish, Lafayette Council #1286 meets the second Monday of every month. New members are welcome!

Lamplight for Mothers:
Ministry for Mothers which meets every other Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Voorhies Gassie Youth Center. Babysitting is available.

Light from Light Bible Study for Men:
Weekly Bible Study consisting of three groups which meet on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. or Thursdays at 7:00 a.m..

Weekly distribution of donated reading material to the University Medical Center.

Museum / Gift Shop:
Selection, display, and maintenance of museum artifacts of the Cathedral and hosting of visitors to the Gift Shop.

Plans, designs, and services parish social functions.

Senior parishioners (50+ years) enjoy monthly luncheons, field trips, and socializing.

St. Joseph’s Diner:
First Thursday of each month, volunteer to prepare vegetables and serve noon meal.

Distribution of monetary assistance to the poor and needy of the parish.

Serra Club:
Fosters and affirms vocations to the ordained priesthood and vowed religious life in the Diocese, and through this ministry, our members' common Catholic faith.
